View Full Version : How do you choose a rehab ?

So my man has decided it's time to quit drugs and drinking, and is seriously considering voluntarily checking into a rehab facility. But there's a lot of them. If his health insurance will pay for it that will limit our choices, but there will still probably be several to choose from. How do we choose?

He's thinking probably inpatient treatment for a relatively short time (he can take some time off work) and then some outpatient treatment.

He decided it is time to stop because he almost got busted, not because his drug use and drinking problems are all that severe as such things go. What I mean is, he may well be strong enough to stay clean with the help of outpatient counseling. And as far as we know he doesn't need treatment for any PHYSICAL problems related to drug use.

However, he is on probation (not for a drug related offense, BTW) until next month, and has a suspended sentence hanging over him for the next few years. Will the government find out that he voluntarily went to rehab? Would it be safer to choose a facility in another state?

Thanks for any advice.

I don't know if there are any around you but the Salvation Army offers a rehab program, in-house, and its free.

There's alot of "free" programs out there that will just take your disability check while inpatient. I don't know how to "choose" them because they range from the patients being homeless/ex-cons/poor to those that cater to the rich and famous.

You can always start w/ your County Hospital and Insurance Company and go from there
