My fiance is in Wasco State Prison and I haven't sent him any money yet. Now I feel bad because I have been reading all of your threads about sending money and I didn't know they needed it so bad. Do they need any money for the basics like stamps and envelopes? Please let me know how much money would be good to send him. Thanks!:)

Hello! From what I know, they could purchase these items when "store" comes around, but you can also send it to him. You might want to call Wasco and find out their policies and procedures. Here is the number for you (661)758-8400, good luck!

Welcome to PTO.
Envelopes and stamps can be purchased from their canteen list, but they need money on their books. I send my boyfriend 20 pre-stamped (by the post office) envelopes and 20 sheets of loose leaf binder paper. In reception they can only spend $90.00 a month on canteen. I am not sure about the main-line facility.
Hope that helps.

Hi
If your man is in reception he can receive metered (pre-paid) envelopes and loose leafed paper - that's it! if you send a money order, 44% of what you send is taken off for any restitution they owe. Good luck

Well, If he is in reception he can only recieve 20 pre-postage paid enevelopes at a time
paper also. One binder of non stapled type paper.(Glued at the seam.)He can have canteen but that is usually only once a month. A post office money order is usually the best to send to any institution, they clear faster. You can also send photos but no poloroids and the inmate name and number has to be written on back. Restitution is not removed until he hist mainline post counsler visit. And it has gone up to 55% removal of funds sent. But this may differ from inmate to inmate. They do have a list of info but this is about it. Keep your letter paper simple, no glitter, glue, string and no lipstick. Best to you.

Thanks a lot for all of the info. I didn't know about the money orders! No wonder they go thru the money so fast! Thanks again.
