WELCOME TO PTO.... WE ARE A VERY CARING FORUM... I ALSO HAVE A SON IN PRISON. HE HAS BEEN THERE 12 YEARS....i KNOW FROM EXPERIENCE THE PAIN AND HURT YOU FEEL EACH MORNING WHEN YOU WAKE UP... BUT, I ALSO KNOW THAT TIME HEALS. YOU LEARN TO COPE. IT NEVER GETS BETTER, BUT YOU DO LEARN TO COPE.
TELL ME MORE ABOUT YOU AND YOUR SON. HOW LONG DOES HE HAVE? WHAT TYPE OF PRISON IS HE IN.
KEEP YOUR FAITH STRONG AND HELP HIM TO GET THROUGH HIS SITUATION... HE WILL COME OUT A BETTER MAN AS LONG AS HE KNOWS HIS FAMILY STILL LOVES AND WILL STAND BY HIM.
MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU

Welcome Janice. Glad you found us. Where is your son at? I ask because my husband is at FCI Elkton serving time on a drug charge. It isn't easy but this group will help you get through. You may want to check out www.november.org also. They focus on drug related charges and bringing our loved ones home.

1st, welcome, I'm a newbie to this group also. Most likely the Senior member or maybe it's the Ole Geezer, Old timer, or something along that line? LOL
The latter part of what I'm responding too, I disagree with.
As long as there is HOPE, there will be better times. As long as one believes in hope and faith, there desire shall come! It might not be as hoped for, but, the HARD time is really already in the past. I say that because, there was a time when NOTHING was known except, that something was going to happen and very unpleasent too. Now there is a time to look forward too.
So hang in there! So far I see there's a lot of information available here and a group of caring/sharing people.

B-Ray 04-24-2002, 08:40 PM Hello Janice, welcome.
Budwoman 04-25-2002, 07:43 AM Janice:
Bray is absolutely right, never give up Hope.... Hope and Faith are the only things that will ever get you through this situation......You must always believe that tomorrow will bring better things.
My son is in NC State Prison and has been for 12 years. When he first went in, I thought I would never survive. I has gotten easier over the years because I have seen how Hope and Faith Help.
God Bless you Child.... A Mother is a very special person... We all accept our Children for who they are....There is a very special bond between mother and child that I hope never goes away.
My Love
Donna
Welcome to PTO... You will find many wonderful people here who will give you some very good advise and especially understand and listen to you.
IT DOES GET BETTER, IT WILL GET BETTER! 4 years ago I thought I would die from all of the pain I was in and I thought that all I was to small to fight the govt. alone. Then I found groups of people that felt the same way that I did, and I have seen changes. Maybe nothing huge dropping out of the sky but positive changes all the while. States are now saying, hey this mandatory minimun stuff isn't working (they don't like it because they see how much it is costing, but as long as they change it I don't care why) People are now gonna get the chance at treatment instead of prison, I see that as a positive change. One step closer toi where we want to be. Sen Bobby Rush (IL) IS proposing a bill THIS congress to increase good time for federal defendants, THAT IS A GOOD THING, For Danish (my husband) that could mean serving 126 months vs. 168 months of a 195 month sentence. (65% v 85%) I am liking those kinds of numbers. We all just need to see the good in every situation, as hard as it might be someday to find it.
Hang tough...Kali
