I have a question about the FMC in Rochester, MN.

I am not from the States, so I am not familiar with all the different kinds of prisons and prison levels. My boyfriend will probably soon be spending 6 months at the above mentioned facility. He is an alcoholic. He was in a federal prison for 12 years, was released in May 2002 and on supervised release. He violated his probation rules by drinking again and was arrested last October. After sentencing on 7 December he has been in transfer since and I have been waiting to hear from him.

Yesterday I finally received a letter from him, mailed from the Transfer Center in Oklahoma City. He writes that he will be sent to the FMC in Rochester. Now I have searched for information about it on the Internet and found out that it treats inmates with substance abuse problems, as well as inmates with physical health problems.

And I read that the security level is "administrative".

Does anyone know anything about such Medical Centers, and what does "administrative" mean?? I am just curious and would like to know what's going on there and what my boyfriend will have to expect.

He says that he will get in touch with me as soon as possible. I hope he will be able to write and call me??
