Can someone please help me, I want to know what I can send and what I cant.Like stationary ect. and how i go about sending a book. And if i can send stamps how do i go about it as i live in the uk? If i want to send a food package do i ask him to send me a form? And how many photos can i send at a time?

You can send your pal soft cover books via amazon.com. They can also receive stamps, I always order them via www.usps.com (http://www.usps.com), I think they can get up to 5 booklets in a letter but I am not a 100% sure.
I am not sure about the stationary and pictures but someone will come along and be able to tell you!

how many stamped addressed envelopes can they receive on SQ DR? I know I have seen it written somewhere but can not find it!

As for photos.. no polaroids.. But propper photos I have send as many as 15 before and he got them all.

Why does everything have to be paid by credit card???????????????? :(

When I called SQ I was told on DR he can only have 100 stamps total, now if you send 30 and he has 90 I have no idea what happens to the extra, as to books, I was told yes I can send books (no porn), he can have no more than 20 envelopes, pens --limit 2 per package and only black or blue and the pen barrel must be clear, no food at all. they are allowed TVs so are they allowed DVD players and movies. That I don't know I need to call and ask

U should be able to get those at the larger post offices, smaller ones and other sales points usually don't offer foreign stamps idd.

Hi, If he has a cd player then they can have cd's through amazon. Books must be paper backed. You can send writing pads but take the cardboard backing off. You can send blank cards for him to send out, remove any wrappings though. Food parcels, be careful and check with him first as they are only allowed a limit amount and if he has placed an order himself and them you send one too then one will be returned, I know because I made that mistake.I got sheets of self adhesive address lables done for him with wild life on and they got through no problem.Calenders are ok as long as the are not the type with wire spirels at the top. Can't think of anything else at the moments.

another tip... make your your boyfriend is taking the picture so that he wont get in the picture and make your DR inmate kinda jeolouse....

well, you can send photos, but no more then 15 (as far as I know from my husband). I send my husband a half stationary writing paper (around 25-50 pages) about every 3rd to 4th time. Books only have to come from a bookstore or bought from Amazon, cause you are not allowed to touch them. Inmates can buy stamps on their own. But if you do want american stamps you may have to find someone getting them for you. You also can send a moneyorder straight to the inmate. If you have more questions, ask me I will be glad to help you as I am not too far away from the UK. I live in Germany

Yes, you can send stationery - no more than 100 sheets at a time.

Books need to come directly from Amazon.com or Barnes and Noble.com - no more than two at a time, and paperback only.

They can receive stamps - since you are in the UK, you would have to order them from USPS.com, have them sent to you, then forward them.

They are allowed to receive "Quarterly Packages" - 1 package per quarter. But you would need to check first, because if someone has already ordered his package for the quarter, he cannot have another until the next quarter. He can fill out a form, letting you know what food items he wants, then you can place the order via your computer.

Photos are allowed, I'm not sure how many at one time. But no polaroids, and no full nudity. Write inmate's CDC no. on the back of each one.

Does anyone know how many blank greeting cards he can receive at one time, at SQ?

If I remember right it is 10. But I may be totally wrong. Why don't you ask him, he is bound to know for sure.

For those who send quarterly packages in SQ DR, how much does the average package cost? What is the most you have ever spent on a quarterly package?

Also, does anyone have links for the companies you order them from?

I used Walkenhorsts last time, but I will never use them again.

Just a note...SQ DR cannot have DVD players or movies, but sometimes there are ways around that if your man is friendly with the mailroom cop. I know that we got around it. As for books, they can have hardcover too but the cover must be removed. I just sent him the new Harry Potter. I cut the cover off and glued the dust jacket onto it. It didn't look half bad. lol

SQ no longer allows Amazon only Barnes and Noble. I am not sure how many cd's may be sent in at once but I know that they are not allowed to have more than 12 cd's total. Just to be on the safe side I wouldn't send more than 2 at a time. Hope this helps out a bit.

No books and CD's do not count as a package. I have sent atleast 4 items through barnes and noble in the last 6 weeks and my friend has received everything that I sent.

Is this for AC as well as regular Dr, or do they have other more strict rules? Anyone know anything about the AC? I want to send my pal a book as a suprise but I don't know if he can have it or not.

Just got a letter from an inmate that I help in San Quentin and the "latest greatest" on what they may recieve in the mail. Okay, the most requested items seem to be stamps-He says you may send up to )and no more than) 40 stamps. Also they need pens and they allow you to tape no more than 2 pens to a piece of paper and mail them in an envelope. The types of pens they are allowed to recieve are The Pentel RSVP design (black or blue ink) Or the new style that Bic just came out with called Atlantis (black or blue ink) He also did confirm that San Quentin for whatever reason will not accept books from Amazon, he says you can send from Barnes & Noble-Or even a "bookstore" as long as they ship it directly from their business address. Hi ... I have a friend on Florida DR and I send him envelopes and stamps etc. Does anyone know if I can send him an A4 writing pad? Don't want to attempt this and get it sent back to me.:confused:
