The thing that bugs me about this is, she most probably was too scared to go to the police for fear of retaliation, or she did go and nothing was done as usual.

White River - An Mpumalanga woman hanged herself after driving from Witbank to White River on Saturday to tell her children that their father was an abusive husband.

Her children live together in the same house and she hanged herself in their bathroom, said sergeant Denise Grobler of White River police on Monday.

The 64-year-old woman, who lived with her husband in Witbank, confessed to the children and then went to bed.

"The children thought she was sleeping, but then found her dead in the bathroom about 22:00," said Grobler.

Police have opened an inquest docket.

Rape 'likened to animal devouring newborn'

Two child rape victims kept their sexual abuse hidden for years, but their terrible secrets were revealed when they both fell pregnant by their rapist fathers, the Cape High Court has heard.

Two separate cases heard in the High Court on Wednesday uncovered how two young girls, then aged eight and 12, were sexually abused by their fathers and only later spared when their growing bodies started showing signs of pregnancy.

Tragically, it emerged that one of the young victims was impregnated by her father after being repeatedly raped by her mother's boarder, while the other rape survivor felt that she was different and worthless because her father had raped her.

One of the young victims, now 16, watched from the public gallery as Acting Justice Tandaswa Ndita on Wednesday sentenced her father to 18 years' imprisonment for his three-year-long sexual abuse of her.

The rapist, who lived in Khayelitsha before his arrest, cannot be named to protect his daughter's identity. The young woman remained impassive as the judge told her father that he had done the most inhuman and unthinkable thing.

While noting that the man had been the family's breadwinner, Acting Judge Ndita asked: "But what does that mean when you are capable of turning on your own child and abusing her?

"You violated her physically and emotionally when you were entrusted to look after and love her," she said.

In an attempt to persuade the court to lessen his sentence, the man testified he had suffered from terrible headaches since he saw a colleague shot in front of him in 1998 - the year that he started raping his daughter.
(my comment - can you believe this man????)

Acting Judge Ndita noted that the man had continued to show no remorse for what he had done by refusing to take responsibility for raping his daughter and blaming one of the rapes on his drunken state at the time. (My comment - okay so if he was drunk at the time, then who was doing the raping his evil twin???)

Probation officer Qondisa Bongela said the girl's father "crossed the line when he satisfied his lust on his own flesh and blood, in an act so barbaric that it can be likened to an animal devouring its newborn".

In the second case, Acting Judge Ndita sentence Mthuthuzeli Nxosi, 48, on Thursday morning for twice raping and once attempting to rape his landlady's then 12-year-old daughter. When the girl's mother confronted him, Nxosi chased her with a knife.

During questioning by state advocate Anthony Stephen, probation officer Lucy Retyu testified that the young girl had been moved from her mother's home in Langa to her father's house in Bonteheuwel after the rape. It was there that her father, who insisted that she be moved for her own security, allegedly began sexually abusing her.

"I think that the father took advantage because he had seen that she would not tell anyone what had happened when she was first raped. In my seven years' experience, it is quite common to see victims of rape being victimised again, sometimes by people close to them... but I don't know why," she said.

The girl's father was charged with rape after she fell pregnant with his son, who is being cared for by one of the girls' aunts. The man subsequently ran away

Dear God that is just more sick than sick - it's seems unbelievable that people are capable of this kind of behaviour towards their own childen. These men should NEVER come out of jail. They have destroyed these children for life. They should get life.
As for the first story - the husband should be charged with murder.....there is too much abuse happening and nothing happens to these men. Women walk around for years and years with deep emotional and physical scars, obviously this woman couldn't handle the pain anymore. Men like her husband go scot free and find another victim. Abusers are criminal and it is time that they are regarded as such. It is very sad that she felt she had no other choice than to kill herself.

this brought tears in my eyes. I feel so bad for the girls and so angry at those pathetic excuses for men
