Welcome to Prison Talk Online and the South Carolina Forum. I’m Kahlan, the forum leader. Several years ago, I was working in my office at the library checking in the Sourcebook of Criminal Justice Statistics, adding it to the cart and shelving it along with other U.S. Justice Department reports without a second thought. Now, when I get anything from the Justice Department, I hold it a little longer and it seems to be a little heavier.

Most of us never expect to be here. If we haven’t been directly involved with the criminal justice system, we find ourselves lost and confused about the entire process. We also find that most people cannot relate to what we’re going through. That’s where PTO comes in. This is a place of support for all of us who have found ourselves plunged into this world of courts, lawyers, late night transportation, expensive phone calls, and carrying our valuables in plastic baggies to visitation. Together, we can help each other get through this.

As you become more familiar with the PTO community, you will find caring support from other members and a wealth of information to help you and your loved ones. I hope that you will feel comfortable here and will feel free to ask any questions and post any joys or concerns.

All members please read the PTO Policies / Rules located here: http://www.prisontalk.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=188.

When posting in the South Carolina forum, look for existing thread titles to see if your topic has been recently listed (last couple of months). If a thread fits your post, add your comments or questions to it. This will bring the thread back to the first page of the forum. If nothing seems to fit, add a new thread with a new title. Try to be as descriptive as possible with your titles so that anyone searching PTO or the Internet will be directed to our forum. Moderators will sometimes change or add to or move your titles for this purpose.

If you realize that you have made a mistake in your post after submitting it, you have one hour to correct it. Use the Edit button below your entry to do this.

I check Internet links that I have posted regularly and fix the links that are no longer valid. If you find links in this forum or any other forum on PTO that do not work, please send me a Private Message and I will fix it as soon as possible.

If you have any questions about forum use or have a question that you don’t want in public view, please send me a Private Message. I will be glad to help you any way that I can. And again, welcome to PTO.
