Angola prison guard arrested

Baker-Zachary bureau

ST. FRANCISVILLE -- Sheriff's deputies arrested a prison guard Tuesday who is accused of having sexual relations with a Louisiana State Penitentiary inmate.
Deputies booked Camille C. King, 23, 85 Government Fleet Road, Natchez, Miss., on one count of malfeasance in office, sheriff's Capt. Spence Dilworth said.

Dilworth said Angola investigators learned of the incident through another employee.

King, a security cadet, had been working at the prison for three months before her arrest, Dilworth said.

The sad story on this is that she was apparently at Camp C, had a natural attraction lead to its natural conclusion, and had no option of quitting and visiting the prisoner in question. He's most likely in a cell in Camp J where's he's being dealt with harshly, and she's facing prison time for, IMHO, being human. The rules encourage to this type of situation.

When you take an official position to have control and supervision over an inmate you do this with the knowledge it is a crime and grossly unethical and unprofessional to have intimate relations with the inmate under your care/supervision. EVERY correctional officer in the US knows this and accepts this before they take the position. If a CO "falls in love" with an inmate then they quit their job and peruse a relationship with the inmate like any other person on the outside has to. If not, they deserve to pay the price for abusing their position and breaking the law. No one just wakes up one day and falls in love with someone, no doubt this situation could have been prevented when the CO began developing feelings that would have been the time to be responsible and professional.

Not a good week for LA Prison system.

LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - A former Allen Parish jail guard who admitted to downloading child pornography on a work computer has been sentenced to a year in federal prison. Robert Lindsey, of DeRidder, pleaded guilty in October to a charge of possession of child pornography.

He also pleaded guilty in state court to contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile and served five months in jail. According to court records, Lindsey kept his office at the Allen Parish Correctional Center locked and had blacked out the windows on his office. But, one day, he was ill and someone had to fill in for him. When that happened, the person found dozens of child pornography images saved on disks.

Lindsey lost his job when he was indicted. The Allen Parish D.A. allowed Lindsey to plead to the contributing charge but federal prosecutors felt that wasn't enough and indicted him on federal child pornography charges.

After Lindsey is released from prison, he will have to serve three years of supervised release, pay a one thousand dollar fine, register as a sex offender and stay away from computers with Internet access. He also will have to submit

SearcherThat could have been part of the problem - Angola doesn't allow a former employee to pursue a relationship with a prisoner. They know they'll never be allowed to see the prisoner once they quit. The option isn't there. But you may be correct, and you know, if Louisiana started public floggings of wayward cadets such as Ms. King and charged a fee to watch, it'd be both a great deterrent plus generate funds to the state's coffers.:D

REBUTTAL HERE!

Just why would you conclude 'camp C' as the playing field? FYI, it could have been in any of the dorms, (during work no one is allowed inside for specified times, and does revolve from dorm to dorm) the kitchen, the wardens patio, heck with 18000 sq ft of land.....

Because that's what the Camp C prisoner I hear from told me. He lives there, so I figured he would know. The word "apparently" was intended to indicate no hard conclusions were being drawn, not that details concerning locale matter with respect to consequences to those involved. The errant prisoner got sent to Camp J.

They are starting to crack down on it, they were starting to when I left...it is just really being talked about publicly. As we all know, a lot of things go on in prison that the general public doesn't know about...but it all comes out sooner or later.
