My boyfriend is currently serving time in Sussex 2. We are pretty serious about each other and have talked a little very seldom on marriage. But he wants to and so do i. Although i have some questions cause i heard a thing that some jails dont allow the inmates to get married. i dont know where or how to go about gettin information on the situation. will he be able to get a ring and actually wear it? do they supply them or would i have to buy them? all that stuff.. if someone could please help me i would greatly appreciate it!

I married my Hubbie at the county jail in Arlington Virginia. They asked me to write a letter to the chaplin why I wanted to marry my husband. Then they approved it a week later. It took about three weeks after that for it to happen. We could not have no guest. It was him and I and the clergy. I had our rings blessed by a pastor before I took them to the ceremony. I think he would have to ask his counselor for permission or the chaplin. You suppose to supply the wedding band, but it can't have any jewels in it. Good luck! And welcome to PTO :thumbsup:

Billysbbgrl, I got married last oct in Sussex I which is across the street. We had to get approval for the rings. We did, I had to buy them and bring them with me. ALso, our daughter, my cousin n his mother were allowed to attend the ceremony. A camera was not permitted but thats cause Sussex I is a level 5. You might be able to bring a camera in since ur fiance is in a level 4. Have him ask his councelor or whoever else is helping him with the wedding. Thats who helped my husband. Anyhow we were only allowed to get married on a thursday and we got an hour visit after the ceremony. You need to contact Mr Williams at the Sussex county clerk office to get an affidavit for ur fiance to sign n get notarized. He has to send it back to u and then u bring it back to the clerks office and purchase ur marriage license. I think it cost me either 45 bucks or 60 bucks. I forgot its either one of those. Actually i think its 45 bucks n the license is good for 60 days. Anyway hoped this helped! Good luck n congradulations on ur engagement. If u need anything else just PM me!
