I have friend in AZ DR. I have been told, that I cannot send him almost anything else than letter and photos, but what about magazines - am I able to send magazines with my regular mail? (Hey, and I am not talking about Playboy magazine etc :D , just regular magazines) And what about books - can I send them ordering those from somewhere... Can I trust that he will get those books?
So there isn't anything I can put in my letters except photos etc....?
If anyone knows I would be happy to know. Of course I can send money orders, but it would be nice to surprise him with something else too.

That is so nice of you wanting to send your pp exciting stuff! You may send Magazines,Books soft cover and they must be sent from the book store like Amazon.com or from the store itself. Please dont mail them yourself and I think they like crosswords things of that nature. Something to keep their mind off there surroundings , who can blame them!

I send cassette tapes which have a reply to my letter on tape and my pp on AZ/dr really enjoys those. I just talk, go for a walk and tell him what I can see, try to make him laugh or get my son to chat with him - so that is another idea. In my experience of having books sent via Amazon.com, they have always got there and I send to several states, no problems so far! I also send articles from the newspaper/magazines and they get through and I have sent quite a lot of photocopied pages from books as well.

I need to check up Amazon, but next problem is how can I pay it,
because I don't have credit card ..... :(
I need to look up other alternatives.
Also I should start working with casette tape someday - I just need recorder, maybe I can borrow one from work... if there are old ones.. We usually don't use recorders anymore, we write all notes... (I work as editor)
I just wish this all could be more easier.

I guess you can send a cheque (check!) to Amazon but you would have to get one drawn up in dollars wouldn't you. If you want, tell me which book you want to send him and I'll put it on my card and you can send me the money or you could send me the equivalent in US stamps for me to send to my pals in Florida....just a thought. I have a really old tape machine but it seems to do the job ok!

No, we can't send stationary unfortunately, nor stamps. This is possible in some states such as Florida, but not in Az. All we can do is to send money for them to buy stamps etc .....
